General description
Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of Europe’s top ranking universities and Sweden’s largest center for medical training and research with 328 professors and about 500 PhD students. Research at KI is conducted in 22 departments, most of which are situated within or adjacent to Stockholm’s teaching hospitals. This creates ample opportunities for translational research in which new experimental results are rapidly implemented for patient benefit, and where clinical observations provide a basis for new research ideas. Over 350 students take their PhD degree each year at KI.
